Stardate 64583.21 - Victorian Gardens

Back in 2007 the company I was with at the time rented out Victorian Gardens in Central Park for the company picnic. Loren had a terrific time. This year on June 21 we were invited to the family donor event at the same place, and it was really neat to see the difference in what Loren could ride and to also see Kate mirroring the same activities that Loren did 3 years ago.

I was amazed that Loren wanted to ride things like the swings, all by herself.

Cheryl took both girls in the balloon ride (Kate's first ride).

Another ride where Loren was pretty far up in the air (for a 4.5-year old!) was the plane ride.

Kate enjoyed the slower rides like the boat ride, but there was also a mini-roller coaster that Kate loved and rode 3 times.

And, of course, she had to drive the truck just like her sister did back in 2007.

Stardate 64261.05 - Good Friday

Cheryl had Friday off and daycare was closed so she spent the day with the girls while I was at work.

They went over to Central Park and spent some time in the Children's Zoo, which is one of Loren's favorite places.

They then had a picnic lunch in the park.

They also visited one of the playgrounds before heading back home.

Stardate 63402.5 - Memorial Day (Observed)

On Memorial Day we walked over to Central Park and visited a playground, had a small picnic, and stopped by Bethesda Fountain. It was a gorgeous day and we all had a great time. Of course, we would have enjoyed the day even more had we been spending it at our beach house--but alas, we don't get the keys until next Friday.

Stardate 63336.06 - Return to the Beach

Last weekend we had temperatures in the 80s, so on Saturday we took a trip over to Central Park for a picnic and to visit the Zoo. But first, here is a photo of Kate and Loren showing off their matching socks that Nana and Kraker gave them for Easter.

Loren has been watching Sid the Science Kid and wanted to bring a scientist bag with her to the park to look for bugs and to collect leaves and things. Cheryl helped her with her exploring while I tried to keep Kate out of the sun.

After eating our picnic we headed over to Central Park Zoo, and in the Children's Zoo portion the spider web is always a huge hit with Loren.

On Sunday we went to the beach. It is weird to remember how warm it was just one week ago, because as I'm writing this post it is in the 50s and raining today.

After the beach we went to Cheryl's parents' place where Bill entertained us with some Wii games. That company is doing something right in their marketing if they convinced Cheryl's parents to purchase one!

Stardate 62723.57 - Weekend

On Saturday we went up to 73rd street to a Mexican hole-in-the-wall that Cheryl visited once and found to be quite good. Loren wanted to ride her scooter all the way there, which meant that we ended up carrying it a good deal of the way. The weather was nice, in the low 70s, so I broke out the jeans for the first or second time. The restaurant was quite good and we enjoyed the meal. On the way back we stopped at the playground by where we used to live and after some fun in the sandbox where a little boy dropped pants to urinate in the sandbox (narrowly missing the children around him), Loren was ready for ice cream.

On Sunday I took her to Central Park so Cheryl could get some much-needed shopping done and we ended up at the Children's Zoo. I know we have 50 pictures of Loren on the turtles but they are by far her favorite thing at the Zoo. We did have a break-through today where she got some of the feed and actually put it into her hand and stuck her hand through the fence for the goats to lick the food off. She seems to be relatively trama-free after feeding the goats. I can't say the same for the turtle after Loren cleaned out his nose.

Stardate 62669.10 - Labor Day

Today Cheryl took Loren to Central Park so I could get some things done around the apartment and also have some "Curt time."

In the afternoon I took Loren up to Best Buy to return the favor and we purchased a couple of new Dora episodes and a Max & Ruby DVD. For dinner we packed up a picnic and went up to the roof again. The temperature was perfect, the humidity low, and the breeze light and refreshing. The perfect end to a great day!

Stardate 62624.80 - To the Zoo

It was a gorgeous day on Saturday with low humidity so we took a walk over to the Central Park Zoo. Loren, as usual, spent most of the time on the turtles.
