I think my boss is a little behind on his e-mail. I received this e-mail today, along with about 6 other, similar messages (first three lines are edited to protect the guilty, but the rest of the message reads as I received it):
Your message
To: X; Y; Z
Cc: Boss
Subject: ABC
Sent: 5/11/2005 18:08
was deleted without being read on 10/30/2007 08:33.

Was that a reply by the boss, or an automated message from the system subsequent to him deleting the email?
I had a boss who used to set away messages when on leave which said messages would be deleted on his return. Guess his time was too precious to care about anything which happened in his absence. :P
Ah, but this is wonderful! Hold on to those messages from the system, but delete your original messages. Then when ANYTHING comes up you can simply say that you emailed it on such and such a day, but he deleted it without reading it! Of course you also have to destroy the backup tapes....
or an automate message...?
Yes, it was automated and I got it because I had turned on receipts for that message. Who knows how many messages of mine from 2005 without receipts turned on were deleted in a blaze of ignominy?
