Captain's Log Supplemental - Strike?

We may lose all of the building staff to a strike at 0001 Friday morning. If so, I'll keep you - my loyal readers - up to date on all that happens when residents have to go to the lobby to meet guests, take out their own trash, cut back on the social parties in their apartments, and meet delivery persons at the building's front door. There is also the possibility that other unionized organizations (like FedEx) may not cross the picket line.

We'll see what happens. Negotiations continue through tonight...

How will you survive??? Do you have enough candles, bottled water, and batteries to make it?

We'll pray for you and prepare the strike teams.

I think my favorite line in the article was that residents are volunteering to fill in for elevator operators. Have some socialites truly forgotten how to press the right button? Only in New York :)

I thought it was funny that the building owners cited the price of gas as a reason for increasing expenses. I must have missed the motor-home part of Curt's building the last time I was there.

We have to push our own elevator buttons in my building. We're not so fancy.

Steve - as an economist, you should know that the price of oil causes an increase across all types of consumer goods.

Well I understand the ripple effects of the oil price increase, but I'm clueless as to how that affects the ability of doormen to do their job efficiently. Do they have to buy their own door joint grease?

I'm guessing he was going for a "we're going to pass our cost of living increase on to you," but it came out quite badly.
