Second, since she was doing better and since the temperature was slightly lower today (96 as I write this post) we decided to do some hiking. We went up onto the Skyline Drive up to Turk Mountain and hiked up to the top and back (a little over 2 miles round trip). The elevation is 2960 near the top, and the parking lot elevation is 2610, so it is a 350 foot increase in elevation, but there is a lot of downhill before you get to the final, steep up-hill portion!
I took a special backpack with Loren in it, and let me tell you, hiking that distance and at the grade on that trail with 20+ pounds on your back is quite a work out!

Enjoy the pictures!

I second the "Are you crazy?"!!!!
It did make me realize that I need to get back to the gym. I did have 20+ pounds on my back, but I was having trouble keeping up with my Mom. And she is 62!
