Stardate 60584.69 - Hot Day for a Retirement

Cheryl and I took a day trip to Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, today. It was quite hot, so we only did the formal tour of the house and not the 45-minute garden tour. We did our own very quick tour of the grounds and the garden, and of course the grave site. We then went into Charlottesville to the Historic Mall downtown. We ate at a Tibetan/Indian Fusion place (I cannot remember the name) and then had gelato nearby.

This evening was my Mom's retirement party at the local country club. She has spent the past 25 years with American Safety Razor, and is now formally retired. It was quite a nice event, and the food was fantastic. Tomorrow we may try to have some formal pictures taken of Loren - we'll see what we feel like doing. The weather is again supposed to be very, very hot here.

Here is a picture of my Mom and my Grandmother while my Mom's (former) boss speaks at the event.

Ugh, the temps in VA just sound horrible right now. I'm expecting pool pictures a la James!
