Yes, Virginia. It is indeed hot here. The high is supposed to be 85 and the humidity is way up there. Possibility of thunderstorms this afternoon. How I love monsoon season in Northern Virginia!
So up at 0400 this morning to shower, finish packing, put down water and the auto-feeders for the cats, make sure that the litter box is clean, and then off to the airport for a 0600 departure for the office in McLean.
A nice feature of National car rental (our Firm's new preferred car rental agency) is that you get to pick what car you want off of the lot - they are not pre-assigned in advance. The bad thing is that by Thursday there are only mini-vans and sub-compacts left on that lot. As I was trying to decide which mini-van said "stud" and not "old man" an attendant brought in a Chevy HHR fresh from the car wash. So I took it.
This one has Georgia plates and looks like it has been through hell and back. OK, maybe that is an exaggeration, but that was my first impression upon entering the car. The mileage is about 20k, but someone obviously spilled something significant on the driver's seat that left a large stain. Not that I was deterred.
But it is better than a mini-van.
And I hope all my readers have watched Jessica's video that I embedded in the post below. I know you are all too lazy to click through to her site to see it, but hopefully moving the mouse and clicking once on the video when you are already on my site isn't too much of an effort for you.

Why do I feel the lazy comment was directed at me?
It was directed at all my readers - I'm calling everyone out today.
I watched the embedded video, which I thought was pretty well done. It didn't make me want to read the book, but I do look forward to more video!
